LIVING AN IMPACTFUL LIFE

In Life we are never sure or certain about so many things, one of them is our death. In the Gospels it’s not also clear about when. We do so many things to prolong our lives, we seek the best medical attention, we eat healthy and so on. But I think in the long run, what shall matter is how we impacted the world when we lived.

We have seen some die very young and many years after we still remember them, take for instance Jesus Christ our Lord, at 33 years of age, Blessed Irene Nyaatha 39 years of age, others are still very young and alive. We do also have others like Abraham who lived for so long and began impacting when they were old.

I find the password to living an impactful life as being in Psalm 116: 14, “I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.” Life’s fullness is how much I grow into a close relationship with God. How I draw closer to Him and how I see Him into my daily life. The church always presents me with so many instances of meeting with God, one is in the Holy Mass where I personally encounter God, through the Eucharist I receive energy to keep on impacting.

I do also belong to a movement known as the Focolare, it teaches me how to live a life of communion, it teaches me the importance of communities and how in communities I foretaste the heavenly life and how God is found in the ‘within us’. Life is not all about complaining and being depressed by what I miss, how I’m treated by others, but I see life as about how I cooperate with God to make many things better not only for me but for all humanity.

A successful election this year shall not be analysed by whether I made the right guesses on the ballot boxes, I campaigned for the richest an the winning teams, but on how I chose to make the other person feel even when their teams failed, how I shall behave if my side loses, whether I choose to respect the opinion of the other person.

God has given you great potentiality to impact the world, you don’t need to be a CEO of a multinational, you don’t need to have a Billion shillings in your account. God can lift you up from the tents of self pity into an icon that Billions of people shall look upto for hope.
